| Anyone actually play one? Not the Gretsch version but the T.V. Jones model. Hand made with the nitro finish. I was thinking of getting one, however I would have to sell a couple of gretsch guitars to afford one. Are they worth it? I know there not going to sound much different than the Gretsches I have with t.v. pickups but I like how they look. And, the fact they are boutique and not mass produced. | |

| I tried one at the Hamburg Vintage show 2 years ago. Wonderful guitar, brilliant sound somewhere between a Duo Jet and a 6120 or 6119. I guess the price is ok as you wrote this is not mass produced.
I would buy one but i want a Black Phoenix as well. And i love the Gretsch Logo on a guitar.

| I've never played the TV Jones version, but I've owned the Gretsch version for almost three years. The Gretsch version is pretty much the best guitar I've laid hands on for me, so far. Hearing some clips of the TV Jones version makes me think that this version is more in tune with the "Gretsch Sound" while the Gretsch version has some gretsch sound in it, it really can go all over the place with the powertrons in it. Also the woods used are completely different from the TV Jones model. The Gretsch version used a spruce top over an alder body, mahogany neck with a paduak fretboard. I think the TV Jones has a maple top over an alder (or mahogany?) body with a mahogany (or maple?) neck with an ebony fretboard with TVJ classic pickups
As far as them not being "mass produced", TV Jones isn't hand making these. Infact, I believe that they are still being made in the Terada factory. Regardless, these are great guitars from my expereinces.

| I owned a Gretsch one and have another coming in a week. I have played the goods from tom at the namm shows and they are fully loaded versions of the licensed gretsch ones. The change in the tops make them a bit more twangy for sure and the fret work is amazing. I hate to say it but I'm a Tvjones dealer if you are interested in purchasing one I should be able to negotiate a nice deal even though I only ever order pickups. | |

Awesome stuff, you have another Spectra Sonic on the way! Oh no, you just gave me more reason to want a TV Jones Spectra Sonic. It seems like it would be a less expensive option to the Chris Cheney sig! ...yes, I am only dreamin' on one of those! hehe
