Woke up to a pleasant surprise this morning. Presale tickets for SANTA CRUZ. just got 4. Venue seems rather ghetto but oh well.

Glad it the riot tour instead of the orchestra.

Lets just hope he doesn't cancel on me like last year when he was playing literally five minutes from my house. Watch, hell probably come out with a show right here in Sacramento and I just bought tickets for SC.

There's nothing wrong with the Catalyst. It's in downtown Santa Cruz, maybe a mile from the beach. They have a great atrium for the pre-show. I saw Dick Dale there a few years ago. It's a good medium sized venue. Larger than your typical night club, but smaller than a converted movie palace. It's always a good time to visit Santa Cruz. The real shame is that it's a 21 and over show. My friend's son is learning to play the stand up bass, and I was hoping that we could take him to the show. I usually take Tuesdays off to watch my children. You are welcome to send me a pm if you want to get together Tuesday day. Good places to stay if you're from out of town: Budget - The Carousel Inn, right across the street from the Boardwalk, Mid-range - The Sea and Sand Inn, on a bluff right on the beach at Cowell's Beach, Premium - The Dream Inn, between Sea and Sand and the Boardwalk. awesome man thanks. yeah i think the pics I saw online were bad pics, I don't expect he'd play anyplace "ghetto". Im from Sac and surfed every weekend there in high school so I know my way around town. I learned to surf at Cowells when I was a kiddo. yeah lets get together. I got 4 tickets and will probably only need three so lemme know if you know someone that might need that ticket in the future. Just going with the folks as a holiday tradition (get our Setzer cancelled on 2 christmas seasons in a row ) We should definitely hook up before the show though. I am not sure to understand well and things are not always really clear for me on Brian's website :
all the december gigs, except the two last days, are Riot gigs ? There is no BSO Christmas gig this year ?
If it's the case I can't help myself thinking about Christmas songs played by the Squad... Wow !!

From what I see on briansetzer.com,
the only BSO Christmas dates are Dec. 17 & 18.
So I guess there are 2 Christmas shows but no tour.

how far's the drive from orange county? or better yet whats the best route to santa cruz. I've been
through there about 20yrs ago but cant remember much. Sounds like a cool getaway.

It is a cool getaway. Orange county to Santa Cruz is probably about 400 miles. The shortest and fastest route is probably I-5 to CA 152 to CA 1 in Watsonville, then north. A slightly slower and longer alternative is US 101 to Monterey County, any of several connector roads to the Monterey Bay, and CA 1 north. The coolest alternative is CA 1 all the way up, at least from Santa Barbara. CA 1 will probably add two or three hours to your trip, but it's worth it. If you only do CA 1 in one direction, do it southbound. You are then right up agains the bluffs that overlook the Pacific. If you work Monday through Friday, seriously consider taking Mondtay, Tuesday, and Wednesday off work in order to make this a five day getaway. There are all kinds of cool things to do on your way up. If you can only spare two days off work, take Tuesday and Wednesday. Flying is also a good option. Santa Cruz is about 45 minutes away from San Jose Airport.

you are making me fantasize about ESCAPING!! I want to escape. I've done CA 1 and its so incredible.. California is so beautiful. Especially when you get AWAY from the inland.
