| I've always thought there was a difference between being a good singer and having a good voice. For example, Mariah Carrey and Celine Dion have technically great instuments, but what they do with it isn't what I'd call musical. On the other end of the spectrum, Louis Armstrong or Willie Nelson are expressive singers but don't conventionally have great voices. I think playing an instrument is a good analogy. Brian Setzer could still make a crappy $30 guitar from Walmart sound way better than I could make a $30,000 guitar sound any day because he's got talent. Poor Willie and Louis were born with $30 Walmart voices, but they sure can sing...IMO

| Now ya got me to thinkin and a rantin. Those singers that can express and have the pipes are really pretty few. Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Cole, Crosby...I don't hear anyone in rock in the past 50 years that can touch em...OK maybe Elvis.
It's also true of the singer-songwriter types that dominate rock. So few can do both but every kid with a guitar since Lennon and Macartney thinks they should. Crickey, even Hillary Duff writes her own songs. Rodgers and Hammerstein were smart enough to realise they needed to get the Julie Andrewses of the world to make what they'd written truely great.

| Maybe Elvis?..............I think Elvis easily holds his own against those guys.
In my opinion Crosby had a limited range, yet punched well above his weight. | |

| I'm gonna disagree with the Hoff being on this list. I saw him do Jeckyl and Hyde and he was impressive. | |
