Did they make sure Rickey Henderson was done with his card game before they started the demolition?

If so, where is the US Open going to be played??

Oh my heart is broken. Did you know they were selling the seats from Shea for 869 a seat? Cause they won the World Series in 1986 & 1969.

Arthur Ashe Stadium, where the US Open has been played since 1997, is just across Roosevelt Ave. from Shea Stadium. You can see a bit of it (Arthur Ashe) in the far left of the top picture and more so in this one:

These are the only two stadiums that are (or were... sniff...) anagrams of each other... SHEA & ASHE.

Plethora of useless information,

I saw the Rolling Stones play there in October 1989 and the whole place shook.

I was there for one of those shows! 10/28/89!! Sat in the Mezz... you could see the entire upper deck moving up and down!!! The only other time I saw that was when the Mets beat the Cards in the 2000 NLCS.

I was in the upper deck and it scared me cause I'd never been anywhere that big before. The Stones played 2 nights. First night ,John Lee Hooker opened for them and the second night when I saw them , Living Color opened. My 25th birthday was the 27th of October that year and my cousin from Rockland county took me there as a present. Dont remember much about the show other than that I enjoyed it.......and the vibrating deck.
