Alain BASHUNG (1947 - 2009)

I am very sad tonight.
I've just heard that Alain Bashung is dead this afternoon after a long illness. He's probably only known by frenchies so I'd like to tell a few about him. He was a fantastic rocker with really rich melodies and uncredible lyrics. He could be funny like he could deep, but always very clever, brilliant & intelligent. I sure miss him.

I'm like you, my friend, very sad. He was a top class gentleman and I had my heart broken when I saw him on TV just 2 weeks ago! Bad day for the french rock music, really.

It seems unbelievable. Even if when I saw him two weeks ago on TV, I did not recognize him : so slim, so thin, and for sure so ill...
I love Alain since the beginning in 1980 with the album "Pizza" and his two unforgettable singles "Oh Gaby" and, most off all, "Vertiges De L'Amour". I've always love his music and shows (I had the chance to see him live). He was a lord.
He died yesterday at the age of 61... Like his friend Serge Gainsbourg if I remember well, no ?
So sad, so sad.

Personally, I know now that I can't.
As Frenchy said, my thoughts, my mind and my soul will be there with Alain and his family (he was married with two kids, the younger is a 7 years old little girl !).

I can't stay one more day (plane problem) so I won't be there. As you my friends, my thoughts will be with Alain and his family.

Hub', I've learned that Alain has a son called... Arthur, like yours ! Did you know that ?

I've just learned it too. I'm very proud of this, it's a kind of sign for me.

Just saw on TV few seconds of the first part at the church (second part, at the cemetary will be this afternoon). Really moving and, more than ever, still uncredible.

Just heard on the radio and that's enough for me, it's so sad...
