that's what I've done quite a few times just to check whether I could like and enjoy some of the tunes and sure some of them are great but can't find a reason to call him the king of RnR... but that's my opinion

The sun recordings and 68 comeback DVD is a most have in every home, Buy it and love it Jon.

I wonder if its american to want to dismiss Elvis (even though we
rockabilly types "wershuhp" him) BECAUSE his name is
synonymous with marketing craaaap and really really corny
50's sock hop junk. Even blasphemous Viagra commercials...

Elvis was just below Jesus in my home growing up and our family
was weeping when he died. Shoulda seen my dads pomp and mutton
chops with his gold aviators in the 70's..

YET... there are so many lesser stars that sang incredibly and gave
Elvis a rung for his money.. they just didnt have his style, charisma
and general mojo.

ps. just so you know I'm true to Elvis as a fan, my 6yr old's middle
name is Presley. we Vega's are HARDCORE...TO THE BONE YO!

I was brought up on Elvis.
He was like an Uncle I never met. Every new genration is gonna have kids investigating older music and keeping Rock N Roll alive. You can guarantee that when a kid heres authentic rock n roll for the first time it'll be on an Elvis record.
Not just because of the "commercial viability of the Elvis name" and all that Jazz.
Not just because Elvis is the only name they know from watching TV Shows with embarassing fat impersonators on them.
But because that guy had the best set of pipes the worlds ever heard, consistently for his entire career (and beyond). He's the King because know matter what he sang it was belted out with the most feeling and emotion.

You can feel it in your bones when you hear it.
