Jon, I'm not kidding - they got into the second song, and I thought "Slim Jon from The Lounge would love to see the setlist for this!". So I wrote it all down. I'm typing on my iPod right now - I'll type on the setlist a bit later when I'm on my laptop.
EDIT: OK, I'm back...
Please Don't Leave Me
Mess Around (the Ray Charles classic)
Susie Q (CCR cover, sung by Danny)
Lost Highway
Gonna Kill My Baby (such a tender ballad
)
Rumble In Brighton, sung by SJP (who wasn't even the skinniest guy in the band!)
Let's Roll Baby
(not sure about this next one - my limited musical education combined with Nick's sometimes iffy diction makes this my best guess at a title...)
?Shoulda Been Here With Me?
Get It On
Somethin' to Remember You By
(see above note...)
?Bowery Love? ?Buy Me Love?
I Been Shot Down
Down to the Crossroads
Sleepwalk
Crazy Bout You Baby
Keep a Knockin'
Have Love Will Travel
(and then the closer, which in a strange way sort of disappointed me...)
Rock This Town, sung by SJP
I don't mean to show disrespect to the guy who's the subject of this whole board, but here's what I mean by disappointed. These guys were SMOKIN'. It was the first show they ever played together, and they KILLED. Granted, most of their set consisted of covers. But those covers, in my judgment, weren't the theme song of a major act, the way Rock This Town is for Stray Cats. Setzer still plays it at pretty much every BSO performance. It seemed to me like closing with Rock This Town put this great new all-star band under The Brian's shadow. And they don't deserve to be in anybody's shadow.
So, to close on a positive: it was a great set, and the lounge at the Casino is kind of intimate, so you could see the artists hanging around after the show, having a drink or some food, talking to the fans, etc. I didn't chat up any of the stars...I just wouldn't have known what to say! (For instance, I doubt that SJP would remember me as the only audience member from the 2007 Stray Cats show who gave him a high five after the curtain call!
)
And then Deke came on, which to be honest was what we really went to see. So all in all, it was a fantastic night!
