Hi all.
This was making waves in another thread. I thought it'd be interesting to pursue in it's own thread. When I was younger I spent many many hours on the couch on a Saturday morning watching cartoons and some other shows. It was a ritual for me, so I thought I'd rattle off a list a see what memories the titles bring to everyone who's interested here and maybe you can add yours and see what it triggers.
Cartoons:
Scooby Doo Hong Kong Phooey The Wacky Races The Great Grape Ape Inch High Private Eye The Funky Phantom Josie and the Pussycats (hated that myself) The Robotic Stooges from The Banana Splits The Bugs Bunny Show (my favourite was the little indian and the little moose with the big head) The Pink Panther The Woody Woodpecker Show The Flintstones (with or without Gazoo)
What was the show called about a Shark with the voice of Curly form the 3 Stooges?
Shows:
The Banana Splits HR Puff N Stuff The Basil Brush Show (Bom Bom)

All right! I could talk about this all day!
Here are my favorites:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Road Runner (Hot-roddicus supersonicus! beep-beep!) Tom & Jerry Speedy Gonzales (I think I loved ALL the Looney Tunes!) Bugs Bunny Batman (TV show with Adam West)
There are so many others... I know I'm missing some good ones, but these are the favorites I remember most. Man, I miss being a kid, no responsibilities, play outside all day, do what I want...

I think that was called Hyde and Hare. Bugs was adopted by the good doctor, who becomes Mr. Hyde. It's a classic!!!
Anyone ever watch the Japaneese show called Monkey? Awefully bad, but I had to watch it.
I forgot Spaaaaace Ghoooooost and Shazam!!
Scooby Doo also had the "meets" titles:
The Three Stooges Giligan's Island?? The Harlem Globetrotters Phillis Dyler Don Knots
Great titles, they're bringing back a flood of memories. Did you USA peeps ever get Skipppy the Bush Kangaroo? It was our version of Flipper or Lassie.

The unedited Bugs Bunny & Road Runner cartoons were my all time favorites!! A couple of my all time faves are the bull fight in Spain, and The Barber of Seville (I know that's not the right name). It's so weird this thread came up today, I was just thinking about Bugs Bunny cartoons earlier, wondering if I could get unedited versions on DVD.
One of my all time "highs" in life was the opportunity to hear Chuck Jones speak in public. He was hilarious!! Brilliant! Ok....he was an idol, I'm not going to say anything bad about him!! Pure genius in the cartoon world as far as I'm concerned.
I love Space Ghost as an adult, but can never find it on TV anymore. I also liked..."The Moth?" The guy in the white suit with bug-eyes?
The Flinstones was good. One of my childhood nicknames is Pebbles. One of the names tossed around when I was born.
Good times!

The Saturday morning cartoons of my youth were plentiful. But I always dug the older, syndicated cartoons that were on before and after school. We had three channels, plus PBS, but were able to still enjoy the following:
Tom and Jerry / Spike and son / Droopy / other MGM fare - My favorite was the one where the conductor's baton is switched for a magic wand, leaving the magician/conductor to torment the Great Poochini, a bulldog opera singer. I saw it recently and it appears the PC Police ravaged it by cutting outsome of the less racially-insensitive portions. I never noticed them as a kid. Ted Turner did precisely the same thing with the classic Tom and Jerry episodes featuring the maid, who, apparently sounded too "Amos -n-Andy" for Mr. Turner.
The Warner Brothers cartoons, featuring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and company were much better free from the constraints of the Saturday morning Bugs Bunny/Road Runner show.
In addition to the Flintstones, Jetsons, and Tom and Jerry, I was also fed a steady diet of classic Hanna Barbera shorts from:
Yogi Bear Snagglepuss (Heavens to Murgatroyd, exit stage left!) Huckleberry Hound Yakky Doodle and Chopper Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinx the Cat (I hate meeces to pieces!) Quick Draw McGraw
(Others, like Top Cat, Atom Ant, Peter Potamus, and Auggie Doggie got considerably less play in my town.)
Popeye seemed to be everywhere in syndication in the 70s.
In the non-animated before and after school fare, the Three Stooges and Little Rascals/Our Gang shorts were essential viewing.
And of course, syndication brought us a steady diet of 50s, 60s and early 70s shows throughout the decade, including:
Leave It to Beaver I Love Lucy The Andy Griffith Show Green Acres Petticoat Junction Beverly Hillbillies Gilligan's Island The Brady Bunch Get Smart
and my favorite...
Batman
Of course, I would occasionally opt for daytime talkshows like Mike Douglas (I was barely 4 years old, and I distinctly remember the week John and Yoko guest-hosted and jammed with Chuck Berry) and Merv Griffin, or game shows like Tattle Tales, Family Feud, and the greatest of them all, Match Game.

Ahhh man, most of the shows mentioned I've never heard of! Now that's either because they didn't air in Australia or because I'm from a different generation.. probably a mixture of both
HOWEVER,
Get Smart Bev. Hillbillies The Brandy Bunch And The Monkees
Were all re-runs for me growing up which I LOVED! Especially Get Smart.
Others include:
Round the Twist Gumby Looney Toons (especially Tom and Jerry, and Bugs Bunny segments) Alf
Arrrrgh! Can't think of any others now, it's been so long
Kid.
P.S. I realise I wrote 'Brandy Bunch' instead of 'Brady Bunch' but it makes me laugh so I'm going to leave it.. they were probably all drunk off Brandy anyway

Well, My list will not be the length of Rickabilly...
Pee Wee's Playhouse was watched pretty hardcore by me/brother/dad and we still pop in the DVD box set now and then.
One I am sad to see that noone else has mentioned is my personal favorite cartoon. Muppet Babies. Not the Muppet Show, the Muppet Babies cartoon. Friggin genius!
I have been hoping to have that available on DVD in my lifetime so I could just go to town on it. Unfortunately, Disney now owns the rights to it (to my knowledge) and it is probably stuck in the vault.
And to whoever mentioned Tex Avery cartoons... Another brilliant addition to any child's well being. He was SO different from the other people of his time, and it all stood out. Great stuff.

Well, BK, when you're younger than everyone here, except Kid, you're probably one of the few who experienced Muppet Babies at an appropriate age. I have to say I thoroughly enjoy Pee Wee's Playhouse - one of the best pieces of children's programming ever! I was in college when it aired, but I thought it was brilliant, and I'm pleased to have been able to have the series on DVD so I can share it with my kids.
Other brilliant animated shows not from my childhood include Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, and Pinky and the Brain. There's a lot of great stuff out there that has aired over the last 20 years or so, but if you grew up in the 80s or 90s with 150 cable channels at your disposal and cartoons on air 24/7, there's almost too many choices to develop the kind of shared nostalgia enjoyed by us old fogies.
Speaking of nostalgia, a couple of my favorites from recent years exploited that nostalgia to great effect. Cartoon Network's Adult Swim showcased Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, where Space Ghost hosted a talk show interviewing various celebrities. A fantastic spin-off of this idea was The Brak Show: a sit-com featuring one of Space Ghost's arch-villains from the 60's, the cat-like alien Brak. It's very difficult to describe, but it's very absurd, off-the-wall, and, in my opinion, quite hilarious. And you don't even have to know anything about the old Space Ghost cartoon to find it amusing.
I tried to convince my 6-year-old that Brak was actually elected President of the United States on Tuesday. While amused, she wasn't fooled for a second.
The other show that lampoons the classic Hanna Barbera cartoons is Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. Former superhero Harvey Birdman takes on court cases involving various Hanna Barbera characters. I remember one episode where Shaggy and Scooby are up on marijuana posession charges - hence the severe munchies for "Scooby Snacks."

Ah, I can't believe I forgot Rocky and Bulwinkle, Sherman and Mr. Peabody, and Dudley Do-right. Genius. For some reason, they were on Sunday mornings early, so after watching them, I was hooked enough on toons for the day that I ended up watching the only other thing that was on: the stop-action animation of Davy and Goliath.
And in an effort to purge "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" from the jukebox in my brain, I now have the Fat Albert theme groovin' in my head.
Nah, nah, nah, gonna have a good time-a-billy

I had forgotten all about Animaniacs and Tiny Toons. Gosh, we used to watch these in college all the time. Any one remember The Tick? That was another one that I really missed when it went off the air.

We had the same show over here but it was called Blankety Blanks. It starred our Legend Graham Kennedy. His main source of jokes and what would now be dubbed politically incorrect speak was Ugly Dave Gray. The show was absolutely hilarious!!!!
