| Hello folks, some of us have recently been posting on the Off Topic section about our fav 50s both songs and artists. Now, it's time to translate it into Stray Cats & Setzer terms so, that it's time to get to know a few things about our likings:
1- Fav Stray Cats album & song 2- Fav Brian Setzer album & song (68CBS, BSO, solo projects...) and 3- if you are a collector, which item is the gem in your collection?? Here I mean, the rarest item, the one which has a very important sentimental value, ect. This can actually be anything: guitar pick, album, tee...
Shall I begin?? Well, I shall!
1- Blast Off / I Won't Stand In Your Way 2- Live Nude Guitars / Back Streets Of Tokyo and 3- my most preciated item as far as I can recall right now is a couple of Slim Jim Phantom gloves, dating from May 1989, together with the Stray Cats Japanese LP Box. I have quite a few unique pieces, but these two are the most remarkable and oustanding gems.
Now, it's your turn folks! |

| My most precious Cat momentos are : I saw the Cats play at the Ritz in New York back in 1992 ,waited outside afterwards and got thier autographs and got to speak to Jim for a few seconds who recognized my Irish accent. Some time later I went to see the Cats play in New Jersey and after the show waited outside again. As Jim exited the building he saw me and said "Hey ,Irish Guy". I got to talk to him for around 30 minutes about all kinds of things ,the different rockers he was friends with like Duff from Guns n Roses etc. He also commented on U2s success and said, "Can you believe those guys used to open for us". Thats why I used IrishGuy as my name on this site previously. When the Cats played on Asbury park beach, also in 1992 ,Brian was wearing a WNEW baseball cap which he threw into the crowd and I caught it. I still have it. They did a record signing in Tower Records on West 4th street( I think its gone now), I got to speak to Brian briefly and had my photo taken with all 3 Cats. In March 1989 , I saw the Cats play 2 shows in London( Kentish Town) and my cousin and I were heading for the tubestation to go home afterwards .We saw a limo passing and Jim and Brit Ekland were in the back. We shouted out to them ,the car pulled over and Jim rolled down his window ,shook our hand and said Hello. Also at one of those 89 London shows,I bumped into Robert Plant and got his autograph and I was jumping around during Blast Off and knocked over a guy who sang in a band popular at that time called Sigue Sigue Sputnick. At the Shepards Bush show in 2004 ,Robert Plant was sitting about 9 or 10 seats away fro me. I grew up on a farm in the "aresehole" of Ireland when the Cats first appeared on Top of The Pops in November 1980. I had just turned 16 and was totally hooked instantly. That first feeling has never left me. Back then I never thought I'd get to see them in the flesh. I have seen them quiet a few times though and each time was magic. As for my favourite records , some are better than others but everyone has a gem. However since Stray Cats 1 and Gonna Ball were the first 2 records I ever owned , they are my most prized posessions. I remember seeing Stray 1 for the first time in a store and just didnt have the money to buy it ,it was heartbreaking . It was about 5 months later that I finally got it on cassette as we didnt have a record player. Then when Gonna Ball came out ,I could only get it on vinyl ,not on cassette and since none of my friends had a record player ,I didnt get to play for about 2 months. Now that was torture. | |

| Fav album Blast Off,just shading Stray Cats for it's blatant Rockabilly attitude. Fav song errr ROCK THIS TOWN,the best song in the world! Setzer solo Rockin' By Myself.A masterclass in guitar playing. If studio album, then Ignition. Song? Today I'll go for Who Would Love This Car But Me but there are too many. Mementos? Well,it's the BSO ticket Brian signed for me backstage at Shepherds Bush in 1999 along with a signed pic Slim Jim sent me (via Faith) after I had been ill and the photos of myself with Jim and Lee also. I have the Rock This Town cassette single too and a couple of the (unopened) remastered Japanese Stray Cats albums.Built For Speed is one. Regards Steve | |

Are you still taxi driving? This will help to answer: *by the way...over here in Europe the Rebel Flag doesn´t necessarily have the same meaning as in America. This topic has been discussed before. Just remember when the Nashvillians toured Europe and in the logo used for the poster Setzer was wearing a rebel flag bandana around his neck. Here when you see a rebel flag people don´t think of racist issues, we consider it a symbol of R´n´R. Back to the topic... another of my treasures is the Stray Cats 45" Shaped Single:
