I've Been Banned. . .HUH???

I am registered on the bs.com "official" fan forum, but rarely post. Yesterday my
husband & I went to see the Cats at the OC Fair. I posted my comments, and today they were gone. I thought perhaps I had hit the wrong button (it was late, I was tired), so posted again today. Within minutes my post disappeared. About half an hour ago I tried to go to the fan forum and was told I "was banned from this forum" WHAT THE. . .??? I didn't post anything that was obscene or objectionable. I sent an e-mail via the contact button & asked Tommy why I had been banned, or if it was an error. Has anyone else had this happen? I may be badkitty, but I'm really not a bad kitty. . . :(I have been a loyal fan for 27 years. Great way to treat me. . .

These BB Forums rely on a bit of automation to help them do their jobs. I don't think Tommy had any time to remove and ban people on the spot immediately after the show, as he was on his way back home. Were there other negative comments around your post where he could have done that by mistake?

I'm sure there's some other explanation. I looked for other folks on the memberlist who have been kicked off and their names are not there. Your name is still there. I hope there's just some misunderstanding or technological glitch involved.

Anyway, welcome back to the HDVDL. Like a cockroach after a nuclear disaster, we're still here.

Hi Rick, thanks for answering. Yes, I realize it is probably an error by a bot, but maybe they need to look into what triggers as a "negative." There were comments about the sound mix being off, which I agreed with, but still acknowledged their great musicianship. I did state that Brian looked unwell, but praised his performance, and did not speculate or elaborate on his health. If innocuous comments like that are enough to get people "banned", from the forum, well, why even bother.

Well, I just got an e-mail from Tommy. He did not ban me, and doesn't know why it happened. Guess it's a bad bot; posters beware

I remember your post now - weird that it's gone. I've had strange things happen over there - getting signed out, and then I'm stuck trying to remember my password. Maybe the server re-set itself - but it's very strange that you actually got some communication that said you were banned. I think this board is set up through the same company - the darkbb.com is the same, at least. So I suppose it could happen here, too.

Yeah, Tommy's ok. It's some goofy computer thing, I'm sure. I wish I knew why things seem so...odd...in Setzerville. I can't quite put my finger on it and it's a perplexing situation.

Daddio, you make my heart hurt with your Avatar of missed opportunity - I could not make that KC Xmas show in 2006! Last summer made up for it with the Stray Cats show. Here's hopin' they Bring It Back Again to the Midwest in 2009.

As for the Huskers, we could be 4-8 or 8-5 this year. I'm very excited and very nervous! 8 seperate half time shows for the young 'un? (Plus a bowl game, and maybe a Big 12 Championship game - OK I'm dreamin') I may have to suit up for the Alumni band show to give 'em some time off.

Not meaning to hijack, Badkitty, but I have a young'n in the University of Nebraska Marching "Banned" and Rickabilly, being a Lincoln townie, as well as a fellow alum, knows the reference well! In fact, in honor of your banding, I'll suggest she uses "banned" in all purposes of the Marching Redders!

RB, KC '06 was excellent BSO show, so did you make it to Stray Cats last summer? Man, that was a great show!

Unfortunately, compressing these photos makes 'em grainy. The actual photos look quite a bit better. Nothing approaching the quality of Tommy's pix, that's for sure.

Have you tried to create a new account with a different user name and password? Maybe that might do the trick.

Hi Kiki, thanks for the suggestion, but I can't even get that far; as soon as I click on the fan forum it brings up a page that states "Critical information:You have been banned from this forum." I even tried re-booting, and I still can't get in, so it must be tied to my IP address. Kinda spooky, really. . .

Have you dumped your cookies? Boy, that sounds bad, but you know what I mean. Could be you have a cookie set that's blocking you. To block an IP address someone would have had to take an extra step and purposely ban you.

I agree with Rickabilly when he said that strange things have been happening over there. I would even go so far as to agree with Badkitty's assessment of "spooky". The last time I logged in the lights began to dim and I felt a sudden drop in temperature in the room. I can't really explain it, but I kept having this strange feeling of some one being in the room with me. I started hearing these weird noises, like some one moving things around. A strange glow began to emanate from my laptop and I started getting goosebumps, then my pulse began to quicken. These eerie images kept flashing on the screen, scenes of what appeared to be some kind of radio station in the Depression-era South. Once my laptop began to levitate I had had enough. I ripped out the high speed connection and hauled ass to the nearest church where I prayed for protection and forgiveness. That was 2 months ago. I'm still a little nervous about this whole "internet" thing, but I still can't help but freak out everytime somebody even mentions that other place. I feel safe here.
