Darrel and Imelda are about the most rockin' couple I can imagine. Her voice and style are incredible and Darrel's playing is awesome. I wish they were my parents

Here are the lyrics to Johnny Got A Boom Boom.... if anyone can find something else... post it here please!! Can't really pick out all the lyrics by ear
He got me with a hook Those big bass notes Thunder in my chest mmm, stuck in my throat Pulling me down Like a rumble in the ground Crawls up from the depths With a deep down sound
(CHORUS) Johnny got a boom boom Johnny got a bamm He got a...
Big bomb body Lonely neck Swear it was a women That he had in his grip Big vibrations yeah Just one glance He gonna blow my mind He's gonna make me wanna Make me wanna ohh
(CHORUS)
Watch that man See whats in his hands Got no joy He's a big bad boy
He's gonna freak you out Your gonna shriek out loud He's got ya in his hands He's gonna make ya wanna Make ya wanna ohhh
(CHORUS)
Watch that man See whats in his hands Got no joy He's a big bad boy
He's gonna freak you out Your gonna shriek out loud He's got ya in his hands Gonna make ya wanna Make ya wanna ohh
Johnny got a boom boom oh yeah Johnny got a bamm I said that johnny got a boom boom Ohh yeah johnny got a He got a, he got a, he got a

Hey folks, Imelda is going to do a few dates in Europe:
14 Nov - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain 16 Nov - Paradiso, Amsterdam, Holland 17 Nov - Le Reservoir, Paris, France 19 Nov - Sala Caracol, Madrid, Spain 20 Nov - Teatro Circo, Cartagena, Spain 21 Nov - Jazz Festival @ Luz De Gas, Barcelona, Spain
It's a pity that I can't make any of the Spanish dates due to work and because they are during the week except the one on the 21st... but I'm working that day!!! DAMMIT!!! Maybe next year.... Wouldn't be Imelda a nice BSO supporter????
And for all the US citizens in the East Coast... Imelda will be playing with John Lang at Birchmere in Alexandria, VA on Nov 9!

Imelda's CD Love Tattoo was finally released in the US a few months ago. Shoot, I saw it in Target last week. Target! How's that for mainstream? I could find Imelda May, but not Brian Setzer!

'Cause Imelda seems to be more rockin' than BSO nowadays??? That's why Target doesn't have Lonely Ave....

Target has actually had Lonely Avenue, and even placed it in their Sunday ad the week it was released, but most stores only stocked a few copies, and so it was hard to find if you didn't get to the right store early enough on release day. The day it came out was also the day Target put out a display of Christmas CDs for the first time in 2009. Nowhere in their inventory were any BSO Christmas CDs.
I searched three of my Target stores for two weeks before finding a copy of Lonely Avenue. And while that was disappointing, I was most definitely excited to see Miss Imelda May on an endcap of "up and coming artists."
Wishing Imelda much success and a few live appearances in the US,

I saw it Brett, but it looks like it was taken down as quick as it was posted. It said Imelda was opening for the Christmas tour on about half a dozen dates in the east/southeast. I hope they expand that and she comes out west too - I keep meaning to get Love Tattoo then other things catch my attention and I forget. I love her version of James Brown's "I'll Go Crazy." (but then, I just love that song all 'round.)

Interesting. I missed the post over there, of course, but I was wondering, did you happen to see any mention of an opening act for Wausau, WI? (The Grand Theater).
Thanks, hrg

The only ones I am fairly certain I saw were the CT, SC and TN dates - so Twenty Flight Rick will get to see her, assuming those dates still hold true.

It is rather bizarre that she's in Target. That's not to say she doesn't deserve it but it does seem odd. I just looked at the listing for Love Tattoo on Amazon UK and it lists her record label as Decca?? Could that have something to do with it?

Love Tattoo's been out in the UK for just over a year. It picked up a US distributor in August. It's much like Kitty, Daisy, and Lewis, who have been on the UK radar awhile only to finally get some US distribution late this summer, or a rockabilly trio from Massapequa that had a couple of albums out overseas before getting anything released in the US.
Of course, with the internet, imports are easier than ever to track down these days. I actually purchased Love Tattoo from iTunes earlier this year before her entry was revised to show the August release date.
I completely missed that she would be touring with the BSO for at least some of the dates. What would be really cool is if her husband / guitar player, noted Eddie Cochran scholar Darrel Higham, would join Brian for some tunes in the "small group" portion of the show.
