I'm not thrilled with the first half of the album.. sounds like Gwen Stefani of no doubt meets Marty Brom. (more to my wife's liking) When Imelda starts belting her voice then I hear the originality and feel the swingin. She's got soul and it needs to come out.. bet it does live!!

I saw it Brett, but it looks like it was taken down as quick as it was posted. It said Imelda was opening for the Christmas tour on about half a dozen dates in the east/southeast. I hope they expand that and she comes out west too - I keep meaning to get Love Tattoo then other things catch my attention and I forget. I love her version of James Brown's "I'll Go Crazy." (but then, I just love that song all 'round.)
Oh, it´s gone. It was an anouncment for 4-5 shows...hmmm...
mystery...

RICK!! WATCH OUT!! Imelda May is mine... so Mr Higham it's me!! ;-)
It's a pity I can't attend any of her Spanish gigs.... this always happens when shows in Spain are organised during the week and not on the weekends!!

NOTE FROM BRIAN
We were very excited at the prospect of having one of my favorite new artists, Imelda May, open a bunch of shows for us on this year's Christmas tour. We were saving this as a surprise for the people coming to those shows that she was going to do. Everything was set to go until her record company, in the eleventh hour, pulled away her tour support. Join me in signing a petition that I would like to send to her label to do the right thing and support her career in the U.S.

I think it's going to be pretty hard, honestly. She has some shows in December in the UK and Ireland... but there are some free gaps to tour the East Coast..... aawwhhh, I can't wait to see Imelda May someday!!!

I really hope you guys in the US get to see Imelda play live sometime soon, either with BSO or with her band. I've seen Imelda play three times now and she is always a treat to see live and puts on a great show.
She also used to sing in a british swing band called Blue Harlem a few years ago, so try to check out her stuff with them too. Although it's not as good as her solo music but its still great stuff. They have two albums featuring Imelda - 'Talk To Me' and 'Jump Jack Jump'

we're talkin about her at another forum full of guitarists, hoping to draw attention via Darrell Higham, one seriously cool rockin player.

Darrel is a cool guy apart from being a wonderful guitar player and singer. Sometimes I've heard that his voice is quite weak... I cannae say that he's the best singer ever, but his voice is rather unique and personal and fits to his style.
I had the chance of meeting him a few times and his shows were really great but I must say that the band members were not a patch on him... I would honestly change them, not because the didn't play well, but they were rather two mercenaries than RnR musicians. Nonetheless, his gigs have always livened up to my expectations and Darrel has always been very kind to me sharing talks, beers and dedicating me some songs too while on the stage.
