What I normally listen to is my "Portable JukeBox". It's a 4gb USB stick that I put 728 songs on.( about 36 hours of music ) I have a USB port in my car stereo. I press Random play and I get a mix of all the songs I wanna here. It could be Rockabilly ,Pop, Heavy, Blues ,Punk, Country....I never know which track is coming up next. I intend to get an 8 gb stick ,than everything I love will fit on it

Pretty much all Christmas all the time these days. The new purchase of the year was Bob Dylan. I had been buying into all the negative press this album had received, but then I saw the video for 'Must Be Santa' online. It's raucous, hilarious, and flippin' sweet. then a friend burned me a copy of his CD, and the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. So I bought my own copy.
The highlight of this week's Christmas oldies has been Connie Francis. What a beautiful voice, and the cover is just stunning. I love that record.
Another one I got from my public library is a comp called 'Christmas Cocktails', put together by Capitol. It's from 1996, I think. It's all retro, lounge type versions of Christmas classics. Dean Martin, Ray Anthony, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, Kay Starr, Jackie Gleason Orchestra, Les Brown and His Band of Renown, etc.
Today's snowblowing music, courtesy of my recently acquired iPod nano, was the first disc-and-a-half of Elvis's 50s Masters.

bear, if you like the capital records Christmas cocktails then you need these:
both are from a now saddly defunct website for a massive collection of vault recordings of mid century modern goodness, called Ultralounge. I'm still trying to collect all the CDs here is a link to the skeleton site of a once awesome swing era web site: http://www.ultralounge.com/

TV,
the top one is the one I'm talking about! Sorry to hear that UltraLounge has gone to that great internet in the sky. The list of other CDs in the liner notes looked like very good stuff.

That sucks Guitarmaniac, I'm sorry.
The good news is you're young, good looking and talented, and it'll only be a matter of time before you'll be like a Mississippi bullfrog sittin' on a hollow stump!

Thanks for trying to cheer me up Andi! The most real line is probably "This girl rejected me, just when I thought I had her..." 4 Months of work for nothing, I feel pretty stupid... and sad
and angry...

You've got a helluva great soundtrack for your pain, Chris! And plenty of songwriting material....
Couple days ago I pulled the trigger on the digital version of Dinah Washington's Greatest Hits 1946-1953, and the "real" version of her Anthology 1943-1959: The Deluxe Edition (still awaiting arrival). I blame the fact that I felt the need for TWO compilations on the drugs. Heh.

I've been playing "Big Noise from Winnetka" up and down lately, gonna play it with the Bigband tomorrow, although in another arrangement (completely instrumental and as a fast 2-beat), but I liked this Version with Vocals pretty much, and since that announcer woman was already dedicating it to Andi...
Love the idea of that "Drum'n Bass" Solo

What a great version of that tune Webby!! I love it slowed down and swung like that. I'm much more familiar with Bob Crosby & the Bobcats' original version, which is probably more similar to what you'll be playing - good luck, can't wait to hear how it goes!!
Here's the Bobcats without the band - uptempo and very entertaining for just drums and bass!

Yeah, the Bobcats Version is awesome. It's just an absolutely fun Song to play! I also wrote an arrangement for my Duo, and it's definetly one of my favorite Songs at the moment.

I just started video-hopping after watching the Bobcats and it took me to one of my favorite artists of all time, Nat King Cole. One long, live number of his I absolutely adore is "Mr Cole Won't Rock & Roll" (which is funny, of course, 'cause in the process of talking about not rocking and rolling that's exactly what he's doing.) Fun tune!
Then I happened to find this, from Cole's own television show.
Not sure what I think of this idea of rock and roll. One would think the great Nat King Cole would have some tiny idea of how to play a guitar. Haha!!
EDIT: 11 year old Billy Preston!! OMG!!
The Sparkletones television debut! Somehow I think Cole was more tuned into rock and roll than he let on....
