Congrats on the new release, Tavo. Now I just need to get both of them! I must say to the fam: iTunes gift cards for x-mas, please!
I've been listening to my catalog of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club stuff since Saturday. I really dig their album "Howl". The other stuff is pretty awesome, but for me, Howl takes it! I haven't heard their newest album, yet.

This morning, Generation X, Valley of the Dolls on vinyl. So funny to hear the rockabilly/50's influence. I swear, it's everywhere.

I'm telling ya, the japanese understand american culture and they take the best parts of it and run with them. They also understand style, well, most of the japanese and asian kids I've known and seen around.
Unfortunately we americans seem to take mostly (IMO) the not-so-cool parts of modern japanese culture. Yes, I drive a Honda, no I do not have a coffee can exhaust system and neon lights everywhere...

Right now, Humberto Caras. He's an Oviedo local musician that I saw a few days ago and I bought his album. Mainstream pop-rock, but it's nice, I dig it!

This better get that wackadoo outta yer head. If not, then lather, rinse, and play more Nick Curran!
Many thanks to Hillbilly Casino, who hipped me to this fantastic song last month, and reminded me of the amazing talent that is nick Curran. I had only a passing familiarity with Nick's first two albums and his great work with Kim Lenz and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. But this album, "Reform School Girl," tops 'em all. Unsurpassed energy - Little Richard on crank. This is likely to be my favorite rock-n-roll album for quite a while. Nick tears up 14 blistering tracks, racing to beat the clock the Big C has set for him. Anyone know how Nick's latest battle with cancer is going? I had heard he was cancer free last year, only to see it return a few months ago.
Bless you, Nick Curran.

Nothing real new, I am sorry... I can't stop listening a fantastic compil' (a good friend of mine made just for me...) of Carl Perkins. I really wanted a big one since last summer after seeing Brian's Riot Tour (his version of Put Your Cat Clothes On was a killin' one) So from Glad All Over to Caldonia, passing by That Don't Move Me, I am listening to this "record" every day. This said, I still have my Christmas compil'...

IF you can find it... NBC Universal has blocked virtually every video posting of it, Jimmy Fallon did a parody of The Doors' Jim Morrison singing the theme to "Reading Rainbow" last month, and it re-aired last night. It is killer. Among the best impersonations he's ever done! They designed the set to look like their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, and his vocal styling is dead on! Rumor has it Doors drummer John Densmore loved it!
He fades in and out of children's books in a trance-like state... "The Indian In the Cupboard..." "There's a monster..." "There's a MONSTER..." "At the of this book. OH YEAH!" "Goodnight Moon..." (Robbie Krieger guitar lick echoes) "Goodnight stars..." (Krieger guitar lick) "Goodnight air...' "Goodnight noises, everywhere." Even the Reading Rainbow theme sounds like the best psychedelic lyric when Jim Morrison sings it. "Butterfly in the skyyyy..." "I can go twice as high..." "Take a look, it's in a book..." "The Reading Rainbooowww...'' "READING RAINNNBOOOWWW..."
Find it if you can... It will not leave your subconscious for days. Flashbacks likely.

I can't get out of my head Fallon telling Mick Jagger how to talk "more like Jagger" when introducing a film clip last year on Fallon's show. Look it up...........

I'm taking a trip in the waaaaay back machine, and enjoying the simple pleasures of the Toy Dolls. Takes me back to a time watching the hubby sk8, road trips to 4 Wheels Out and the Turf, drive-in movies, late nights eating nachos at Wag's, consuming too much cheap beer, and catching as many shows in Chi-town as possible.
Oh I woke up with a backache, (backache, backache)... hrg
