_________________ That's cool HRG.....so do we get another different list tomorrow! I think 'Jeanie Jeanie Jeanie' and 'Runaway Boys' are from the same album. Unless you're counting the album 'Built for speed'? Another good list. 'Ball and Chain' seems to be appearing a lot! I'm really enjoying these lists. Anymore?

| Yes, Ball & Chains and (She'll Stay Just) One More Day appear a lot. Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie and others like Don't Trust A Woman are mentioned sometimes. HRG you are right about changing mind (and it's not jsut for girls !) or just changing of advice : reading your list, I realize, for example, than today Bring It Back Again could be on mine in place of Everybody Needs Rock N' Roll... (we chose the same for the "two" Gettin' In The Mood) PS : Have you got something against the legendary Johnny Kool ? | |

| I don't know why Ball & Chain are on the "black lists"... I actually consider that song one of my fav BSO tunes!
There's a fine line between pleasure and pain You love me like ball and chain!
BTW, what does the expression "Ball & Chain" exactly mean?? Is it like the hate relation between cats & dogs?? I've been thinking about this expression for ages!
EDIT: I've found what Ball & Chain means... curious ;-) Trouble & Strife does serve too |

| Well, that was an incredibly difficult exercise to go through. I spent the best part of an hour to refresh the memory. This is NOT a hate list, just as specified by the rules. So, here's the list:
From Stray Cat 1- Wild Saxaphone Gonna Ball - Rev It Up and Go Rant n' Rave – I Won't Stand in Your Way The Knife Feels Like Justice – Bobby’s Back Rock Therapy - I Wanna Cry Live Nude Guitars - The Rain Washed Everything Away Blast off - Gene and Eddie Lets Go Faster - Give it to Me Choo Choo Hotfish - Cross of Love Original Cool – Haven’t heard the CD. The Brian Setzer Orchestra – September Skies Guitar Slinger – Sammy Davis City The Dirty Boogie – Sleepwalk Vavoom! – Gloria Ignition! – Rooster Rock Boogie Woogie Christmas – Baby It's Cold Outside Nitro Burnin' Funny Daddy – When the Bells Don't Chime [Banjo Mix] Rockabilly Riot Vol. 1 – Mona Lisa Dig That Crazy Christmas – What Are You Doing New Year's Eve 13 – The Hennepin Avenue Bridge Wolfgang's Big Night Out – Some River In Europe (Blue Danube)
Interestingly, I'm going to burn a CD of these songs to listen to in the car, and I will love every minute of it!! Like some legend of the boards said, you don't realise how brilliant Brian is until you play this game, only to find the songs you listed you could (we me anyway) could listen to all day. Great game Choo Choo.
Thanks for the challenge.

| Wow... Thanks a lot ! We have a few in common : Aztec, Ball & Chain, St Jude, Gettin' In The Mood, I Fought The Law (O.C. session). I agree for the difficulty of making a choice in records like Ignition (my fav' Brian's album), Guitar Slinger (my fav' BSO album) and Choo Choo Hot Fish (my fav' Stray Cats). Albums like Rant & Rave are hard too : all songs are goods and, more or less, at same level in my heart. | |

| I'm baffled! How come that Ball & Chain is in most of the lists?? However, there are albums in which the decision is somehow easier (let's go faster, original cool, vavoom...), minor albums I would say. |

| With a different production (nothing against Nile rodgers here) I still think that Let's Go Faster could have a different trajectory. I mean Choo Choo Hot Fish is not so far.
Vavoom was the album after the uncredible success of The Dirty Boogie...So yes, we have some few "easy things" (modern covers from Glenn Miller songs for example) but the rest of the record, for me, is not minor : Americano, Drive Like Lightning, Mack The Knife, Caravan...

| I like Ball & Chain from the first album. I just like every other track on the first album better. I went down the list of tracks and compared it with every other tune... Each tune offered a different "color" if you will, to that first album. I would never put September Skies on the "least liked" list - a string-laden crooner is a rarity in the Setzer catalog, and I wouldn't cut it on any album.
I think albums I don't feel as strongly about are harder to name a "least-liked." I actually like Original Cool more than most here, and there isn't a single tune on that one that makes me press the "skip" button. But nothing really stands out on that album for me to find a "least liked." I think I settled on "Your True Love" because I didn't care for the backup vocals on that one. And I love Carl Perkins, so I hold anyone covering his songs to a pretty high standard.
Ignition was the hardest album for me. Every tune on there evokes such great memories. I actually had to tab back a page to see what I actually put on the list. I used to think Malagueña was a bit over-indulgent. But I remember driving home from the Minneapolis Nashvillains show immediately after the gig. I was so excited to hear Brian playing tracks from Ignition, that I listened to that CD at least three times in a row. Every time I got to Malagueña, it rejuvenated my sleep-deprived brain like no 5-Hour Energy drink could. And I kicked myself for ever maligning the tune. Johnny Kool Pt. 2 has the misfortune of being on such a strong album.
I rather like Vavoom. But I still think Gettin' In the Mood reeks of Jive Bunny hippity hop. It's a popular tune, and the lyrics are clever, but it sounds a little overproduced to me. Ironically, I really like Pennsylvania 6-5000, and it is basically cut from the same cloth. Go figure.
I love the diversity of Vavoom! Now I gotta go listen to it.

Good to Boogie-billy I agree with Rick and Choo Choo, Vavoom! is no minor album! One of my favourites not mentioned yet is 'If you can't Rock me'. Still wondering why that scene with the little mouse dancing to Setzer's guitar solo was cut (well the whole video cut) from the film 'Stuart Little'......It would have made the film ten times better! I was going to put 'getting in the mood' as the one to cut from 'Vavoom' but i decided on 'Jukebox' because i still can't remember how it goes! It didn't leave any impression on me - and that's very unusual for a Setzer song. Many song which aren't favourites i still find myself singing (when the records not playing!) but that one draws a blank. Sorry to go off topic. Vavoom has a strong 'first' half for me.....and so does 'Dirty Boogie'.....I would like to see a comp of a mixture of the best of those two albums! That would be a very strong album indeed....
