My Good Things:
My Setzer Gretsches are, for the first time ever, mounted in a place of prominence on the wall directly opposite the couch in the living room (where most people would have a TV.) That's artwork as much as any Alberto Vargas lithograph (several of which are hanging throughout the rest of the house!)
Even better: for some time now my fella has had a beautiful old 50's Slingerland drum set in Silver Glass Glitter that has gone to champagne colored. The place he was living was so small he couldn't have it set up. The snare was on the bookcase, kick drum and mounted tom in the kitchen, floor tom in the closet, cymbals hidden in various corners...
Now we've finally set the kit up in the living room nice and proper - for a lefty (that'd be me.)
I played snare and quad toms in marching band in high school, but haven't touched a drum in twenty years. I have NEVER played kit (in high school they didn't look kindly on shifting the entire thing around for the one left handed drummer in the band every time she wanted to play. Plus, she was a girl, what were the chances she'd keep with drumming anyway?)
I'm picking up playing the drums very, very quickly. I LOVE learning. Now every time there's music playing in the house, I can't wait to get behind the set. I'm amused to feel like I could actually get good at this. Whenever I sit down with a guitar, it's a frustrating struggle. With the drums it feels like an exciting challenge!
I think I've rediscovered my musical niche, forgotten since I was 17.
(That doesn't mean I won't still grab those Setzer Gretsches on occasion. I let my fella play 'em whenever he wants, too... he actually has an idea of what to do with 'em! )
OH, AND SETZER IS THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!

good furniture.. we have a 60s orange sparkle kit in our living room too, even has a slingerland highhat stand. the smallest member of the family is the stickman with this knucklehead teaching him (cant afford $90 a month drum lesson from a real drummer -ie musician that reads music notation)

After a few weeks of searching, I was able to snag one of the new iPads at target today.
My nerdness will be completely unavailable all day, as I will be playing with my new toy.

After not seeing her for almost two weeks because of my exams (worst 2 weeks of my life) I got to stay at my girls home for 3 days in a row. Before I met her I was single for 4 years. Back then I couldn't even imagine ever being this happy. She makes me happy =) I love her

Nonsense. That was a misunderstanding that had nothing to do with winning the guitar, that event just kind of brought to light all the other crap that was going on. It's behind us. Everyone here is genuinely thrilled for you. You have a Good Thing to share, man, the best thing that could happen to a Setzfan. Spill it!!

I've been with my girl for 9 months today. My goood thing today is that I'm really happy for her as she got a model job for one of germany's biggest hair product comapnies (Schwarzkopf) a few months ago and today's the final fotoshooting and her chances for getting a long contract are really good

My son's baseball team (I'm the coach) won their first game of the season and my boy hit a grand slam. You have to be a parent to get how happy this can make you. Seeing his face when he crossed home to get mobbed by his team mates is one of those "life images" I'm sure will stick with me forever. I'm far more nervous before a game now than any I ever played in, and far more happy when things go well.
