update on the NOCTURNE..those keeping score

that there Nocturne Brain Seltzer is a piece of americana! Nicely done

I'm kind of stoked about having the "custom version" of the Nocturne.

in that case... teehhee I should mention this Stuntman blue in the picture is ready
to wire up, I just got the clear coat on it after I shot the pictures (it was already
so dang reflective, I knew if I hit it with the clear finish its be one giant flash bulb
shot .....since we still use flashbulbs this day and age haha)

Aren't flashbulbs what you use for the LED's in the Nocturnes? NOS ones to be exact, right?

You must be very patient? I'm planning to do a series of big flake 60s sparkles over this coming year.

This is wild to even write it but as of next week I have been building this preamp for an entire year. So i figured its time to have a real website and just let the blogsite be a news update thing. Here's the link, its almost finished but its working.
I was fortunate to barter w/ some young designer and got the site built for hotrodding his Duojet!! here it is:

There's been been a redevelopment of our first preamp from the Brain Seltzer,
to the Dyno Brain. The Brain Seltzer was/ is a my tribute to the RE-301 Space Echo. Its really great for a Filtertron'd Gretsch and a Bassman 6G6-B blonde amp,but
its got its limits.

After interest developed I wanted it to be something more to wider range of instruments and was dang determined to make it sound good w/ dynasonics and p90s.. so I let inspiration come from tvjones new "T-armond" dynasonic recreation and designed the new version of my preamp around these big rich, twangy pickups that have a high DC Resistance of 11K at the bridge..

This means my new preamp version will let gretsch players with dynasonics and strat players with greasy single coils, and gibsons w p90s all be able to get ahold of the same vibe and tone that the filtertron players are experiencing.
So the DYNO BRAIN is now my standard model!

The Brain Classic will be offered still as a custom build for those trying to channel the ol stray cats sonic stew. BUT..

The Dyno does that and covers some new twangy gretsch territory. The response
from a wide group of players confirms I'm headed in a better direction, so ya, its on man!
I love roots rock music and this new Dyno Brain opens the door to everyone this time(unless you are using those freakin gibson monsters that are way hotter than say vintage PAFs..I can fix that for ya too though).

anyway thats kind of an update w/ whats going on. I want to thank you guys whole heartedly for the affirmations. Means alot to me and my family as we keep tryin to make a go at this thing.

ps, for those who have the Brain Classic and would like the dyno version, I can retrofit a new circuit board and pot in
for a flat fee that cover parts & shipping. email me.

So, it seems i have to buy a 2nd nocturne this autumn..
I don´t want to miss my Brain Classic but i also want one for my Strat.

Okay. Haha. You friggin' sold me. Now, do i get the dyno or the classic? I have to admit, i saw the youtube videos awhile ago and was intrigued, and i liked that you could also amp it up as a sorta boost pedal to get an ignition tone. But I have a rough time tgetting onto youtube where i'm located to check these videos out.

I dont want to make the classic anymore, unless I have to which is why I raised
the price to $225 on those. The Dyno Brain does the same thing as the classic w/ a little less bass (no one needs all the bass an RE301 is capable of whompin) but
a whole lot more gain on tap with a nice top end (which you cant get with a RE301 unless you run 50ft of cable)

so ya Dyno Brain is the way to go

And....what kinda ETA would we be looking at for a sexy beast like that?

whenyou buy on my site, it puts you on the list, I've got 10 on there at the moment

..but I already shot 2 with the candy red


cherry cola on the left . polished alum in red translucent on right (like stuntman)

I want the cherry cola. See, all you had to do was say that you could make one that looked like my tennessee rose. :-)
